Let’s talk about organization…
Did you know that I may be slightly OCD and insanely organized? I think as a designer it is actually a characteristic that is very beneficial to my career and my clients. Being professionally organized isn’t only something that Instagram loves (and trust me, they do), it makes my own life so much easier and happier. I love knowing exactly where everything is and where everything goes.
I find large-scale organization such as attic and garage organization especially beneficial as we get towards the end of the year when we go through many consecutive decor changes from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas. If you aren’t organized, decorating for these holiday seasons can really be a bummer. I remember growing up digging around our attic with my dad looking for that one bin that my mom swore had the garland she needed in it. I swear that won’t ever be a thing in my own home. I know where everything is.
I just finished getting out my Fall decor bins in the garage and strategically placing the bits and pieces around our house to set the mood for the incoming season. I don’t love the traditional colors of Fall…brown, yellow, and orange are some of my least favorite colors actually. But I went ahead and littered my home with fall leaves, scarecrows, acorns, and pumpkins. And it does for sure trick you into thinking the weather may be cooler outside (spoiler alert, it’s not). It’s still plenty warm here in Texas. But even if our leaves outside never change colors, we can pretend like they do with fake sunset-colored leaves inside the house!
Honestly, the entire thing took me less than 30 minutes thanks to my garage.
However, in our recent move the garage was left a mess. You can see below that it was just a pile of things without homes. I spent a couple hours last weekend getting it back up to par and I’m going to continue to organize the different bins and spaces, but at least I can see where everything is and move around in there now! It’s a good start.
Beware of the before and after photo from our move below.
Welcome to my garage organization. Each possible decor change is now properly sorted into its own bin and labeled. The bins are neatly stacked on shelves lining the walls of our third garage. Getting decor out for any holiday is as easy as pie now, and I cannot tell you how happy that makes me.
I’m going to replace the temporary duct tape labels with some scripted vinyl ones for consistency next and add a few more bins since I just added to my Halloween decor. It will be an ever-evolving space and project.
P.S. I found those awesome massive storage bins at Costco, but I’m not sure they are in every store.
Organization makes me SO happy. Knowing that I just gave everything in that horrendous pile of tools a place and space of its own gives me real-life joy.
A workshop isn’t the prettiest thing in the world, even when organized, but the fact that there is a surface to work on there and everything in there has a place now? Glorious.
You know how sometimes in life you stumble across something you just happen to be very good at and think you could definitely help others with? That is me and organizing. I’m an absolute master at it. I can organize anything and make it beautiful (humble brag, but seriously).
It’s funny, because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve turned down opportunities to do this for clients. I just never thought it was something I could do for others, but of course I can! I get excited about storage bins and label makers like an absolute weirdo. The Container Store is like a candy store to me. I have nearly everything in my house labeled with a designated spot.
I can share this talent with others.
My own family pokes fun at how much food I have organized in our pantry since it is only the two of us, but no one can deny how pretty it all looks. Nearly everyone that sees the closets in my house ends up asking me to come do theirs too.
-SO-
I’m officially adding professional organizing to my company offerings!
I know organizing things like pantries, closets, and garages is something that most people find intimidating. I really know very few people who obsess over it like I do. But who doesn’t want perfectly organized and labeled spaces in their own home?
The good news is that these days you can hire someone else to take care of just about anything you don’t want to (or know how to) do. I want that someone to be me! Please let me sort out the puzzle inside of that closet you won’t let anyone look inside of. Let me organize the garage that you think is an impossible challenge. I know I can make your lives easier and take care of those messy corners of your home that you don’t even know where to start with.
I’m ready to sort, purge, relocate, and professionally organize your home. I know it’s hard. I know it can sometimes be embarrassing having these often hidden spaces and hoping when guests come over they won’t accidentally wander in and set off an avalanche in the carefully balanced junk closet. I know all too well the dance of “No, no don’t go in there it’s a mess. I’m going to get to it eventually” as you with-arms-wide physically keep people out of parts of your home.
You don’t need to anymore. I’m here to help. I want to help. Nothing would make me happier than shocking you with a before and after you could only dream of.
I’m here to organize! I can organize whatever space you have for me. Let me help.
